Something Has Gotta Change

After a disappointing draw to Almeria the champions of the world will have to start firing on all cylinders if they look to over throw Real Madrid from their place at top of the league after Real's firework display of resolve and undying urge to win on Saturday. Even though they hold that position on basis of goal difference and not head-to-head as the second leg has not been played at the bernabeu.

In my honest opinion I feel our current Dip in form is mainly dew to few reasons, but the one I would like to shed some light on today, is in some circles considered taboo for many but I feel Pep needs to re-think a few things and make a few changes if things are not working.

Ibra has not been in the best of form since the start of this year and the only goal I can remember him scoring was the one in the champions league, a very crucial one none the less, things have got to change. If Ibra is not on top of his game especially to the most important part of the football calendar, don’t start with him use Bojan and other youngsters as starters in the line-up and get Ibra during the second half. I feel Pep growing need to validate his purchase of Ibra has led him to start him on any circumstance. Ibra looks slow and sluggish out there on the field, Spanish defenders seem to have him all figured out and his lack of enthusiasm to score and chase for a D-Box kill does not seem to be helping.

I had always felt Ibra was a miss-match to Barca's playing style as we didn’t need another dribbler or magician with the ball but an all out finisher. We have Messi, Xavi, Iniesta and Alves to dissect the opposition .All we needed in place of Eto (that is if it was true that eto was creating a rift in the dressing room) was an all out in your face striker someone who would just need to be at the right place at the right time or in line for a cross or pass. Ibra has been caught offside more times than anyone in the Spanish league this season I think he just might make an all time record for the league seeing that he has been almost 60times offside since the start of the season. Every time Ibra is offside it just nullifies all the work done by everyone trying to feed him the ball.
Given our current form and being a realist I don’t see us beating Real in the bernabeu and seeing that it is only a month away I think its time for us to come together and bring back some of that amazing 09 football back. Its time for Pep and Barca players to take a hard look in the mirror to see what mistakes they have made and what they are going to do about it.
ya me despido - it's time to say goodbye

  1. Good post. Barca fans seem to be divided on the Ibra issue. I remember the reason they signed him was because 1. Eto'o had apparently issues in the dressing room and 2. Ibra's height would allow him to beat the defenders in getting to crosses.

But as a player he is just another dribbler as you mentioned, one too many in Barca's lineup.
